Assalamoualaikum--I have some Hindu neighbours and during their Divali festival we were given some cakes and mitthai,we were also invited for meals. Is this allowed?

Answer

Wa alaikumus salaam warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh. It is not allowed. A muslim should not participate in such gatherings and should also abstain from everything that is religiously or ritually connected to non-muslim.
