Question

My husband and I had a fight recently on a minor issue and whilst discussing about a specific topic in the fight he denied what he said. To prove him right he said to me that if I said that sentence then one talaaq is effected. I wanted to know if the talaaq is counted as according to me he could have had hundreds of other ways to prove his innocence apart from talaaq. Kindly advise as I am confused. Thanking you in advance.

Answer

Wa alaikumus salaam warahamatullahi wabarakaatuh. If you are sure having heard him saying what he is denying now, then one talaaq will take effect. You can still resume conjugal life and continue to live with him as only one talaaq has taken effect. But your Husband and you should keep in mind that as from now he will have the right of the remaining two talaaqs instead of three.
