aslm, is it a minor or major sin to commit an act of makrouh tahrimi.

Answer

Wa alaikumus salaam warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh. Sin means to disobey Allah. In this context there would be no minor or major sin. However in gravity one may be minor in comparison to another one. Therefore a makrooh tahreemi act may be minor in comparison to haraam and if it is done persistently it becomes haraam. Technically speaking makrooh tahreemi in itself is forbidden as well, although to a lesser degree than haraam.
