Question

Slm I want to know that the tablighi jamaat activity, if we do it within the Shar'ee limits then will it become fardh, sunnah or mustahab to do it?

Answer

Wa alaikumus salaam. To propagate something which is fardh or waajib or sunnah or mustahab to those who are unaware of it, is respectively fardh, waajib, sunnah or mustahab. For example if the propagator is the only one who is concerned by propagating a fardh, then it is fardh a'in upon him. Meaning that if the propagator is the only person who is in the position to carry out this task of propagation and besides him there is no one else who has the ability to do it then it will be compulsory upon him to carry it out , and if he leaves it out he will be considered as someone who has neglected his responsibilities and he will be accountable for that in the sight of Shariah. But if there are other people who can also do it then it will be a means of dispensation for the others. In this context it will be Fardh alal kifaayah. Same ruling applies to Waajib, Sunnah and Mustahab.
