Question
salaam.
I wanted to know about the responsibilities of a girl towards her parents/relatives before marriage and how that changes after marriage? is she responsible to look after her parents or should she serve her husband and her in laws?
Answer
Wa alaikumus salaam.
As per contract of nikaah, she is requested to serve her husband to the extent of permissible matters and to the extent of her capacity. She may serve her in laws on humanitarian basis without any obligation. She may as well serve her parents as long as it doesn't lead to neglect the rights of her husband. The husband should never prevent her from serving her parents if it is not disturbing in any way.
