Is it true that we should avoid getting married in the month of Muharram because many sad events took place. some people say the marriages do not last long if done in muharram. how true is it? my family is planning to fix the date of my wedding in the month of muharram but some are not happy because it's a month where many sad events took place. what do you advice? Wa alaikumus salaam.

There is no such interdiction in Shariat. You can get married in any month. The lasting of a marriage depends upon the good behavior and attitude of both parties.
