Assalamoualaikoum

On August 2017 my husband gave me one talaaq by saying “I give u a talaaq”. When I asked him whether he gave me one talaaq, he said yes. He angrily said that he did it just for a nonsense reason.

Then on 1st December 2017 he told me that he gave me all talaaq that exist in the world. After saying that he also said that his intention was not to give me talaaq intentionally, but he just pronounced it like that. So he said that the talaaq is not valid, and we can stay together, so no need to live separately.

Now I want to know if it’s really okay for us to stay together. If not, then when my iddat supposed to start and what should I do during my iddat and what I shouldn’t do?

Wa alaikumus salaam

Your iddat started immediately after one talaaq were given on August 2017. If you resumed conjugal life before 3 complete menses were over then the talaaq issued on th 1st of December will be effective. It means that you are out of bond of nikaah by 3 talaaqs: One talaaq is the first one in august and the two remaining in December.

If after the first talaaq you didn't resume conjugal life upto December 2017 and in this period your 3 menses were over, so you are already out of nikaah before the talaaq in December was pronounced. In this case you can resume conjugal life by renewing your nikaah.
