Question
Assalamualaikoum,
Regarding question No 1458. When the court sentenced Ahmad for 6 months of imprisonment because he can't afford to pay mohammad back his money and Ahmad went to Jail for 6 months. Is it not the 6 months in jail is like a replacement for his debt?
Answer
Wa alikumus salaam
That imprisonment is not something that can be evaluated in terms of money. It can be assumed that, that person had undergone imprisonment unjustly. So he still owe the money he borrowed.
