Question

As-Salamu 'Alaykum wa rahmatullah

1.Brothers, i have been researching the issue of charging people for knowledge and have found contradictions in the madhahib about this issue.

We find that the early 'ulema of the madhahib declared it haram to charge for knowledge. Yet some late comers did say it was permissible. Although i have not found anyone who says that charging for wajib 'ilm is permissible, yet they do say that charging for extra non fardh 'ilm is ok.

2.Are imam allow to take wages???
if yes
What are noaways ulama doing for free???
3. Nabi (saw) belly was slim, why do ulama of our era have big bellies like M.Khanati e.g among many they should be model for us fellow people.
is this a proof that many ulama are misguided n follow deen for dunyawee gain???

Answer

Wa alaikumus salaam warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh

In the past the Ulama were granted allowance from Baitul Mall. Nowadays the situation is different. If we expect Imaamat and Ta'leem to be done free of charge then the deen will be neglected as the majority will not have the will to do it or they will be unable to do it if they wish.
For this reason the Fouqaha (Jurists) allowed renumeration.

As for your comments on Ulama, we will humbly request you to retract and repent.
