What is the significance of darood roohi? Is it recommended to be read according to Hadith and Quran?

Wa alaikumus salaam warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh

It is highly recommended according to Quraan and Sunnah to recite salaat and salaam upon Nabi (Sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) which we call Darood Shareef. This Formula of Darood Shareef is Darood Ibraahim which we recite in namaaz.

As far as Darood Roohi is concerned, it may be because of the word " rooh " appears in some formula. i.e. " Allahumma Swalli a'laa rouhi Muhammad".
