A lot of effort has been done to acquire ilm. How can it become beneficial to oneself and others after graduation?

Answer

1. To realise that one has become an aalim and thus conduct oneself accordingly.
2. To have the understanding of what ilm is.
3. To have the knowledge on how to lead one's life in accordance to the shar'iah.

The ilm has already been acquired at the Madrassah to some extent alhamdulillah.

If the aalim continues to make mutaala'a of his kitaab along with attaching importance to taqwa, he will benefit even more and others will benefit from him to a greater extent.

A person must not underestimate his efforts. He should not wish to see the fruits of his efforts immediately as the quality of كن فيكون belongs exclusively to Allah. Thus, every effort put in requires time for its effect to materialise. Seeing that effect is like maale ghanimat (booty) which means that it is something extra which Allah is granting us. Otherwise it is not a requisite to see the effect as the reward for one's effort has already been attained. ~which in itself is not a requisite for that effort. (Didn’t understand)~

At the foremost, one should determine if the effort that is being made, is correct or not. For example, one uses halaal means to propagate the Deen. Thereafter, if any result ensues, it will be like maale ghanimat. Having said that, one will still at least get rewards for the effort that one has put in into spreading the Deen.

One can have very few students. Out of these, one or two may become so highly productive that they can carry out the work of an Ummah just like how Hazrat Ibrahim (Alaihis Salam) was an ummah on his own.

With ikhlaas and being mindful of taqwa,, one may teach Quran and the basic knowledge of Deen to those who come to us to learn. In this way, we are not saying that Islam will spread everywhere but at least the effect of Islam will remain even if we are working against all odds in our society nowadays.

It is not important that every student become a writer, an aalim, a haafiz, etc. What is essential is to have the basic knowledge of Deen. A Muslim has to know how to read the Quran with proper tajweed along with the mas'ala pertaining to basic ibaadat like Tahaarat and Salah. In this way, he will remain a good Muslim, stay connected with Islam and have the effect of Deen on him. This is the starting point.

Thereafter we let the Darul Ulum and Khanqah carry out their work for after all, a Maktab cannot accomplish all duties pertaining to Deen.
