Question
Assalamualaikum,
We Keep hearing from some jamaat saatnis Continuously saying that if The Alim, hafiz and muftis doesn’t go on 40 days, 3 days etc compulsorily every year they are not Alims, n so forth in fact they are nothing without khurooj. Then what about Hadhrat Thanawi R.A, etc and those ulama who dedicated their whole life for deeni work but never did 40 days etc as mentioned by the tablighi jamaat. We humbly request to please rectify this issue. Jaza kumullahu ahsanul jaza.
Answer
Wa alaikumussalaam warahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu,
Such statement is baseless and is due to ignorance (jahaalat) in some so called Tablighi brothers. They do not represent the Tablighi jamat and do not understand the real tabligh and its usool.
I can Assure you that none of the Hazrat jees in my knowledge, from Molana Ilyas R.a To Molana In’aam ul
Hassan R.a, ever made such statements. It’s exaggeration (Ghuloo) in deen which is in itself a sin, and due to such Ghuloo, they belittle Ulama, which is another major sin.
In a hadith reported by Ibn Abbas R.A, he said that Rasool Ullah S.A.W said: (part of the hadith is)
“And beware of going to extremes in religious matters, for those who came before you were destroyed because of going to extremes in religious matters." (Sunan an-Nasa'i 3057)
May Allah protect them and us all from falling prey to nafs and shaytaan. Ameen
