The value of Imaan

Hercules had made an offer to Hazrat Abdullah Bin Huzafah (Radiyallahu Anhu) to make him his partner in his kingdom on condition that he becomes a Christian. But Hazrat Abdullah Bin Huzafah (Radiyallahu Anhu) rejected this offer downright. He said that: if you give me everything that you possess and all that which the Arabs possess just so that I renounce the Deen, for the blink of an eye also, then too, I will not do that. On this, Hercules threatened to kill him. But he did not give in. Finally, when he was being taken to be thrown in the fire, he began to cry. Hercules thought that now he would accept to renounce his religion but he was astonished to hear him declaring that he is sad that he has only one life. He wished that he had a life for every hair of his body so that he could sacrifice them all for the pleasure of his Rabb.

Imaan is an inestimable and an unequal fortune that deserves the sacrifice of everything just to be able to preserve it. People who know its value will even put their lives at risk if necessary to preserve it. It is the love that a person has for his Rabb that makes him love his Imaan dearly. According to a Hadith, the highest degree of Imaan is to love Allah Ta’ala and his Rasul (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) more than anything else. Everything becomes easy for a person who attains such a degree of Imaan. Everything else loses its value in his eyes. He accepts to face all types of situations. It is a lack of Imaan that makes a person neglects his Deen based on false excuses. When a person does not have Imaan, he sells the Deen of Allah Ta’ala for his personal interest. He prefers to please his managers instead of pleasing his real boss who is Allah Ta’ala.

"O Allah! Make us love You and Your Habeeb Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) more than anything. Ameen."
