Suffering from headache when washing the hair in Ghusl

Question:

I am a lady who suffers from sinusitis. I get a severe headache when I wash my hair in Ghusl. This problem is not solved even if I perform Ghusl with hot water. What must I do?

Answer:

In this case, it is permissible not to wash the hair. You may simply make Masah of the head. That is, you may rinse your whole body in Ghusl and just pass a wet hand over your head. This passing of the hand will suffice for the validity of your Ghusl. With this Ghusl, you may perform your Salah, keep your fasts and make Tilawat-ul-Qur’an. This Ghusl will remain valid as long as you cannot wash your hair. If, at some point, you feel that you can wash your hair without any problem, then you should just wash your hair. There is no need to rinse the entire body. It is good to note that if a woman has this problem, this does not prevent her from being intimate with her husband. She has full right according to the Shari’ah to have intimate relations, even if she knows that she cannot wash her hair.
