A strange mindset

As far as Deen is concerned, a person will present all types of excuses so as not to do something which is contrary to his likings. If his excuse did not work out, then he still does it, or he does the minimum amount possible just to cover up. And regarding the Dunya, he seeks the best. He is not satisfied with the minimum. If required, he will submerge in the filth of interest right up to his throat in order to get a more beautiful car or a more beautiful house. But he does not take into consideration the gravity of his action. It’s as if he will not die and he will not be reckoned. It is very serious when a person reaches such a stage. A Muslim can neither think in this way nor can he live in such carelessness and negligence. It is those who do not believe in Allah Ta’ala and in the Aakhirah who live in this manner. Unfortunately, Muslims are not satisfied with what they have. They find that which is for others better. This is to such an extent that they know that which is for others better than that which is for them. And this has led them to live life like others without remembering Allah Ta’ala and the Aakhirah.

When one speaks about his outfit and his clothing, he may say that Allah Ta’ala does not look at all this. At least the heart must be clean. We agree without doubt that it is a reality, because if you do not have Imaan in your heart, your clothing and your outfit will not be of any benefit to you. But it is unfortunate that there are many among us who use this argument as a screen. If it is true that there are those who are hiding behind their clothing, it is equally true that there are many who are hiding behind this argument to commit all types of nonsense.

Is it not a strange mindset that when it is time to practice, you say that the heart must be clean but when it comes to marriage, you forget everything. You choose anyone as long as the skin is fair!

We should abstain from this mindset regarding Deen. We should aim for the best. And as far as the Dunya is concerned, we may look for the best provided that it does not lead us to Haraam and it does not make us neglect the Deen.
