Al-Mutakabbir

Al-Mutakabbir is the One who possesses "Kibriya" which refers to grandeur. Thus, Al-Mutakabbir means He who possesses grandeur.

Allah Ta’ala is Al-Mutakabbir in the sense that His greatness is incomparable. There is none like Allah Ta’ala. All those who possess grandeur have acquired it through Allah Ta’ala. True grandeur never ends nor can it be eclipsed by a certain element. In this sense, there is no one besides Allah Ta’ala who is Al-Mutakabbir. Everyone who claims to have grandeur is merely pretending. It is a vain attempt to usurp a quality which is exclusive to Allah Ta’ala, Al-Mutakabbir.

A person, who knows that Allah Ta’ala is Al-Mutakabbir, will always be humble. The more a person is aware of the grandeur of Allah Ta’ala, the more he becomes submissive and obedient. Never will he have a complex of superiority. It is a disease which is found in all those who neglect to recognise that there is only one Al-Mutakabbir. This is a harmful complex and it is detrimental to the spiritual health of a person. It is so grave that the presence of one insignificant spark of this disease is an obstacle to enter Jannah. That is, a minuscule amount of this disease deprives the person of his well-being in the Aakhirah.

Meditation on this attribute leads a person to seek help for all his needs from only Allah Ta’ala and at the same time, it makes him recognise and respect the right of others. In other words, if people simply ponder on this attribute and applies that which it demands, then no one will violate the right of anyone and everyone will live peacefully.
