Clothing

The clothing of a person has an effect on him. For example, if he is dressed in a suit and a tie, he will have a certain attitude that perhaps he would not have when he is dressed in a Kurta and a toppee on the head. He may appear a bit more humble with his Kurta and toppee. And in himself, he may feel a little closer to Deen. On the other hand, with the fashions that are in vogue and are constantly changing, a person becomes a victim to serious maladies such as boasting and pride. His time, energy and money are wasted on futile things. And that also is for a little while only and it is to show off to people.

The Shari’ah has prohibited man to dress like woman and vice versa because man can develop the behaviour of woman and woman can develop the behaviour of man. And this should not be such. Each one must remain within the framework that the Shari'ah has fixed for him. That is why men do not have the right to wear silk garment because this develops a kind of femininity in the man who wears it.
