Al-Fattaah

Fattaah is derived from the verb Fataha. This word is used in the Qur'aan-e-Karim with three meanings:

• Open

• Victory

• Giving judgement

Thus, Allah Ta'ala is Al-Fattaah because He is the one who opens the way for His servants. He is the one who opens the door of blessing. It is He who opens the way from difficulties where everyone becomes incapable and helpless. He has the ability to open the door where there is no door. It is He who gives victory. And it is He who will judge on the day of Qiyaamah. It is He who opens the heart of a person to accept Imaan.

This name is a message of hope that indicates the door that one must knock at, for all our problems.  One must invoke Allah Ta'ala specifically by this name to ask Him to open one's hearts for Deen and to grant one the will to practise it. The Zikr Ya Fattaah can be used as a light when a person feels lost and as a relief in difficulties and a way to strengthen Imaan.
