A honeyed poison
An enemy is someone who does not want your well-being at all. As far as possible, he will always want to make you suffer at all levels. He will never be able to see you in happiness. Your joy and your happiness will upset him. That is why a person does not listen to what his enemy tells him. He is always on his guard. He avoids his enemy at all costs. He does not take anything from his enemy. To such an extent that he refuses to accept even something that seems good also due to the fear of being trapped.
Our real enemy is Shaitaan. He took an oath to bring us to hell. To achieve his goal, he induces people in all kinds of nonsense. He tempts / incites them to do what must not be done. He always has hope to mislead the person. That is why he is not discouraged. He does not give up. He makes effort until his last resort to make him commit the irreparable.
Thus, we must be conscious that Shaitaan is our greatest enemy. This is because if an enemy makes us suffer in Dunya, Shaitaan makes us suffer forever by playing with our Deen and Imaan.
That is why, just as one does not obey one's enemy Insaan, likewise, one must know how to say 'no' to Shaitaan. If one feels disgraced by following one's enemy Insaan, one must feel even more denigrated by following Shaitaan. Especially when one knows that Shaitaan is very cunning and at times even uses virtues to propel/thrust one into vice. A person may think that he is doing a good action but Shaitaan is aiming far. For example, he makes one believe that one is doing a good work by educating women and girls. But gradually the way this turn out finally, is very shameful as we know. Likewise, he makes one believe that one is doing a good work for Deen when one opened the door of the Masjid for the sisters. But firstly, one must know that this action is not compatible with the Sunnah of Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) because one is campaigning and one is encouraging the sisters to come while Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) has never encouraged them. On the contrary, Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) made them understand that the Salaah that they perform in the most secluded corner of their home is much better than the Salaah performed behind him in Masjid-e-Nabawi! Thus, Shaitaan is very cunning and he uses virtuous points to attract his prey into vices that can sometimes become irreparable. One must always beware of Shaitaan. It is the Fuqaha (jurists) whom nowadays people do not heed to anymore, who can warn one of Shaitaan’s honeyed poison.
