Sheikh Nasiruddeen Al-Albani and the 15th night of Sha'baan

It is good to know that Sheikh Nasiruddeen Al-Albani also said that this Hadith is authentic. Thus, indifference in regards to this night which has been expressed for years by a small group who pretends to follow Sheikh Albaani, seems really strange and fishy. Allaamah Bin Taimiyyah (Rahimahullah) also mentioned that night in his Fataawa Al-Kubra where he acknowledges that the 15th night of Sha'baan is a night filled with immense blessings.

Illumination of Masjid on the occasion of the 15th Sha'baan

According to the 'Ulama and according to what Mullah Ali Qaari mentioned in his "Al-Mirqaat", the practice of illuminating the Masjid was introduced by a people called Al-Baraamikah. It is a nation who worshipped the fire before accepting Islam. When they embraced Islam, they introduced this practice. It has nothing to do with Islam. That is why the 'Ulama disqualified this practice. It is an extravagance which is forbidden in Islam. It is up to the leaders of the Masjid to set a good example by stopping this practice. Insha-Allah they will get great reward by Allah Ta'ala.

The time, energy, and resources that will be wasted in such an undesirable practice may be useful to the Ummah in another way. If the Ummah starts reasoning like this, a lot of problems can easily be solved and at the same time, this will allow the donation of our generous and sincere brothers to be used for very commendable causes.
