Al-Hafeez

Hafeez is derived from Hifz which means protection. So, Al-Hafeez means the Protector. There is nothing in existence which can grant protection forever and in all situations because that requires a knowledge that covers and encompasses every atom that exists along with requiring an absolute capacity. No one possesses that. So, it is the knowledge of only Allah Ta'ala alone that encompasses everything. There is nothing that escapes His knowledge. And it is only Allah Ta'ala Alone who has the ability over all things. There is nothing that can render Allah incapable. Therefore, it is Allah Ta'ala alone who is Al-Hafeez.

Allah Ta'ala knows every creature, where it is and in which situation it is. He knows who needs what and how much/to what extent. And He has the ability to give him what he needs. There is nothing that can become an obstacle for Allah Ta'ala. Reciting this attribute in abundance and invoking Allah by this is a very effective way to develop trust in Allah Ta'ala. It is a way for a person who is in distress and pain to feel protected concerning his life, family, property, dignity and honour.
