How to establish the visibility of the moon of Ramadhan?

  1. After the 29th Shabaan, if the sky is clear and there is no cloud in the horizon where the moon is supposed to be seen, then a considerable amount of people should witness the visibility of the moon to proclaim the end of Shabaan and the beginning of Ramadhan. In this case, the testimony of one or two persons does not suffice.
  2. However, if the sky is dark and cloudy, thereby preventing the visibility of the moon, then the testimony of one person, who is Deendaar, may proclaim the beginning of Ramadhan and the end of Shabaan. The Deendaar person may be a man or a woman.

  3. If after the 29th Shabaan, the moon was not sighted, then one more day should be awaited in order to complete 30 days. After the 30th Shabaan, the month of Ramadhan will begin automatically.
