Ten things that are found in human nature

Hazrat A’isha (Radiyallahu Anha) has reported that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: 

"There are ten things that are found in human nature: 

  1. Trim the moustache,

  2. Keep the beard,

  3. Make Miswaak,

  4. Clean the nose,

  5. Cut the nails,

  6. Wash the joints of the body,

  7. Remove the hairs under the armpits,

  8. Remove pubic hair,

  9. Use water to clean oneself after answering the call of nature.

The narrator said: “I have forgotten the tenth one; it is possible (that it is):

  1. Rinse the mouth."”

Natural acts

Natural acts are actions that are found in human nature. That is, even if there was no Shari’ah, an Insaan, who is sane and whose mentality is good by nature, would have done these things as they are found in human nature. 

This is because the Prophets (Alaihimus Salaam) were the most complete and perfect Insaan. Therefore, it is their behaviours and characters that will be considered as natural. 

In another Hadith, Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said:

"There are ten things that are considered as the practices of all the Prophets (Alaihis Salaam)." 

These are the practice of all Prophets (Alaihimus Salaam) and our Prophet (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) has recommended us to observe these things, and he himself has observed these things. All these show the degree of importance that Shari’ah has attached to these practices. Therefore, we must make special effort to practice these things.
