Salat-ul-Witr

"Witr is Wajib (obligatory) on every Muslim." (Al Bazzaar)

B In the Sanad (chain of narration), this Hadith contains a narrator named Jabir Al-Ju’fi who is considered as a weak narrator. However, in reality he is a controversial narrator. That is, he is weak according to some and passable or even strong according to others. A Hadith, which has such a narrator, is considered as a Hadith Hassan (good /passable).

A Hadith Hassan is a Hujjah. That is, it is a Hadith which can be used as an authority. Therefore, this Hadith is quite strong to prove that the Salah of Witr is Wajib on every Muslim.

Wajib signifies a slightly lesser degree of obligation than Farz. To neglect a Farz is grave and a great sin. Similarly, to neglect a Wajib also is a sin. Nonetheless, it is true that the sin of neglecting a Farz is graver and more serious than the sin of neglecting a Wajib.
