One more thing...

There is one more thing that many of us do not think to hide. It is our body. Previously, people had no knowledge. That is why they did not know how to dress properly. However, today, with all the knowledge that we have, we claim not to know how to dress. Allah Ta’ala has created us an Insaan. The difference between an Insaan and other creatures is clothing. Not only should we dress, but we should also dress decently.

In order to dress decently, we should know the minimum extent that the body should be covered. A man should cover his body from below the navel till the knees. He should cover to this extent even in front of a man also. Sport is not an excuse. There also, a person should cover to this extent. In the same way that a man should cover this part of his body, in a like manner, he is not allowed to look at a person in shorts. This shows that it is not permissible to watch a football game as all the players wear shorts. It is very unfortunate to note that on one hand, we fight over banalities and on the other hand, we do Haraam things on the ground and in front of the television without realising. If a man is not allowed to look at another man in such clothes, will a woman be allowed to look? Thus, if a man is not allowed to appear in shorts in front of another man, will he be allowed to appear in front of a woman in such clothes?

And will a girl or a woman be allowed to walk in public with her legs uncovered? Of course, not! A woman is an “aurah”. This means that she is something that must remain concealed. A Muslim woman is not merely forbidden from unveiling herself in front of male strangers but in front of non-Muslim women also. In front of a Muslim woman like her, her body from the navel to the knees should be covered.
