Wa alaikumus salaam. Literally "Shuraym" means something which is split. It seems a bit inappropriate to name a child with such a negative meaning. According to Hadith it should be given a beautiful name, obviously beautiful name means a name which has a good and positive meaning. Therefore we would not advise you to keep such a name.
