Having a little something as Sehri if I wake up late during the month of Ramadan

Q. If I wake up late during the month of Ramadan, such as at the time of the Azan for Fajr, is it permissible for me to have a little something, such as a cup of tea or milk, as Sehri?

A. In the Qur'an-e-Karim, Allah Ta'ala informs us:

"Eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread. Then complete the fast until nightfall." (2:187)

Here, the white thread refers to Subh-e-Sadiq (the first light of dawn), and the black thread refers to the darkness of the night that persists just before Subh-e-Sadiq. From this verse, we understand that the fast lasts from Subh-e-Sadiq until evening. The Azan of Fajr is normally recited—and should be—only after the appearance of Subh-e-Sadiq. Therefore, if one eats or drinks, even in a minimal quantity, at the time of the Azan of Fajr, it means that he has eaten during the time when Allah Ta'ala has prohibited eating or drinking. In such a case, the fast is nullified, and the person must make Kaffarah (fast 60 consecutive days after Ramadan), in addition to the Qaza of that day. Therefore, it is clear that in such a situation, one must neither eat nor drink and should observe the fast.
