Question

Assalam o alaikum.The waiving of arms during salat?rifladaine,is this permissible,did any of the 4 imam practice this, where does this practice come from? is it sunnah?

Answer

According to Imam Shafi'ee (Rahimahullah), and Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal (Rahimahullah), it is sunnah to raise hands before going to ruku and before going to sajdah. Whereas according to Imam Abu Hanifah (Rahimahullah) and Imam Maalik (Rahimahullah) it is abrogated. And it is sunnah only in the beginning of the salaat whilst doing the Takbeer Tahreemah.
