Question

In Rodrigue and Mauritius many hanafis eat octopust and sea foods other than fish. And they are so used to partaking it that it is hard to prohibit them. please advise.

Answer

According to Hanafi Mazhab octopus is not considered as fish consequently it is not considered halal to consume it. Same thing applies to other crustaceans and sea food other than fish. Our duty is to inform people, and it is up to them now to accept or to refuse. Hidaayat lies only in the hands of Allah.
