The best wealth of this world

عن ثوبان قال : لما نزلت { الذين يكنزون الذهب والفضة } قال كنا مع النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم في بعض أسفاره فقال بعض أصحابه أنزل في الذهب والفضة ما أنزل لو علمنا أي المال خير فنتخذه ؟ فقال أفضله لسان ذاكر وقل شاكر وزوجة مؤمنة تعينه على إيمانه

Hadrat Thawbaan (Radiallahu Anhu) narrates that when this Ayah was revealed : As for those who accumulate gold and silver and do not spend it in the way of Allah, give them the ‘good’ news of a painful punishment, on the day it (the wealth) will be heated up in the fire of Jahannam, then their foreheads and their sides and their backs shall be branded with it: "This is what you had accumulated for yourselves. So, taste what you have been accumulating. [9: 34-35], we were with Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalam) on a journey. So some Sahaabah (Radiyallahu anhum) said: what has been revealed in regards to gold and silver has been revealed. (Meaning the Sahaabah realised that amassing wealth isn't praiseworthy).

Therefore they inquired from Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) : which مال (wealth) has more merits so that we may amass it. Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) replied : a tongue which is constant in the Zikr of Allah, a heart which is brimming with Shukr and a believing wife who assists him in Deen. (Tirmizi)

1. لسان ذاكر
A tongue which is constant in the Zikr of Allah

The word Zaakir literally would apply to doing Zikr just once but in the Shariah it would mean الذي وصفه الدائم الذكر i.e. the one who is constantly in the remembrance of Allah.

In Arabic, the فعل مضارع (the present tense) conveys the meaning of حدوث (being temporary) while the اسم فاعل (the active participle) gives the meaning of continuity with perseverance. 

Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) used the اسم فاعل (the active participle) in this hadith which implies that the person should be قلب يستمرعلى الذكر ومشغول به دائما i.e. Someone who perseveres in Zikr and is always preoccupy by it.

This is the reason why it is stated in one Hadith:

 لا يزال لسانك رطبا بذكر الله
Keep your tongue moist with the remembrance of Allah. (Tirmizi)

2. قلب شاكر
A heart which is brimming with Shukr

Upon the receipt of any favour, the person should ponder that it is from Allah. The underlying factor would be that he should obey Allah and not disobey him. When the heart overflows with gratitude, the person doesn't just say thank you. When gratitude dominates the heart, the effect of it is seen on the other parts of the body. Nothing prevents it from manifesting.

3. زوجة مؤمنة تعينه على دينه
A believing wife who assists him in Deen.

This also applies to a believing husband assisting his wife in Deen.

It is mentioned in another hadith:

الدنيا كلها متاع وخير متاع الدنيا المرأة الصالحة 
"The entire world is a provision and the best provision of the world is a righteous woman."

.مال : ما يميل اليه القلب. والذي ينبغي ان يميل اليه قلب المؤمن فهو هذه الثلاثة

Maal (wealth) in Arabic is from the verb مال يميل (to incline). Thus maal would mean what the heart is inclined to. The heart of a Mu'min should incline to the above 3 mentioned qualities.

A Dunyadaar (one who is attached to this world) runs after and pursue the perishable wealth of this world. 

A Deendaar (a pious person) pursue the Zikr of Allah. One should be so grateful to Allah that one doesn't want to even disobey Him for a moment also.
