Virtues of the Qur'aan

Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Abbaas (Radiyallahou anhu) reported that Rasulullah (Sallallaahou A'laihi Wasallam) said:‎

‎"He who has no part of the Qur'aan in his heart is like a ruined house."‎

A ruined house is always dirty because being uninhabited, there is no one to do the cleaning, to remove the ‎dust etc.  And if it requires any repair, no one is there to carry out what is required.  This house is always devoid of light ‎or illumination; it is perpetually embedded in total darkness.  As the days go by, the situation worsens until it becomes ‎useless.  Worse, this house will eventually be visited by people of bad habits such as criminals, thieves or gamblers.‎

Similarly, the heart of a person who has no part of Qur'aan is visited by "thieves" of Imaan such as the Shayateen.  ‎This heart attracts "bacteria" and "virus" that "ghair qawm" infests everywhere in order to harm his Imaan.  Since his ‎heart is deprived of light, that person cannot live in the obedience of Allah Ta'aala.  Moreover, he finds pleasure in evil ‎deeds and futility because dirtiness can only attract that which is unclean as opposed to cleanliness which itself attracts ‎only what is pure.‎

In light of this Hadith, we see that the Qur'aan-e-Karim is a light for the heart, a protection against Shaitaan and a ‎‎"detergent" against "germs" that are the origins of destruction to the spiritual health.  The Qur'aan is also a means to ‎purify the heart so that it is more and more inclined towards the obedience of Allah Ta'aala.  In short, the Qur'aan ‎brings about tranquility which is the greatest happiness for man on this earth.‎

May Allah give us the Tawfiq to learn the Qur'aan, to read it properly and act according to its teachings.  Aameen.‎
