The Revelation

Hazrat 'Umar (Radhi Allahu ‘anhu) reported: "Whenever revelation (Wahi) would come to the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahou A'laihi Wasallam), a sound similar to the humming of bees could be heard around him (Sallallaahou A'laihi Wasallam).  So, once, he (Sallallaahou A'laihi Wasallam) received revelation.  We waited for some time.  When he (Sallallaahou A'laihi Wasallam) had recovered, he (Sallallaahou A'laihi Wasallam) faced the Qiblah and he (Sallallaahou A'laihi Wasallam) supplicated while raising his hands:

اَللّٰهُمَّ زِدْنَا وَلَا تَنْقُصْنَا، وَأَكْرِمْنَا وَلَا تُهِنَّا، وَأَعْطِنَا وَلَا تَحْرِمْنَا، وَآثِرْنَا وَلَا تُؤْثِرْ عَلَيْنَا، وَأَرْضِنَا وَارْضَ عَنَّا

O Allah!  Grant us an increase and do not decrease (our share).  Honour us and do not disgrace us.  Bless us and do not deprive us (from your kindness).  Choose us and do not choose others over us.  Make us happy and be pleased with us. "

Then the Prophet (Sallallaahou A'laihi Wasallam) said: "Ten verses of the Qur'aan had just been revealed to me.  Whoever adheres to them will enter Jannah."

And he (Sallallaahou A'laihi Wasallam) recited them:

“Verily those believers who are attentive in their Salaah has gained the real success, those who keep themselves away from vain things, and who gives Zakāh , and who guard their private parts except from their wives or that which their hands own, so they are not to be blamed. However, those who goes beyond that (for sexual satisfaction) are the transgressors . Those who keep their trusts and covenant, and those who are regular in their Salaah (has gained the real success).  They are those are the inheritors” (23: 1-10). (Ahmad and Tirmidhi).
