For protection - The virtues of Ayat-ul-Koursi

  1. Hazrat A'li (Radiyallahu anhu) narrates: I heard Rasulullah (Sallallaahu A'laihi Wasallam) saying on the minbar (pulpit): "Whoever recites Ayat-ul-Koursi (2: 255) after every Salaah, nothing besides death will prevent him from entering Paradise. And whoever recites it while going to bed, Allah will give him security for his house, the house of his neighbour and the inhabitants of the houses around his."
  2. Hazrat Abu Ubaid (Radiyallahu anhu) reports that Hazrat ‘Ali (Radiyallahu anhu) said: "I do not believe that a man born Muslim or having accepted Islam should spend a night without reciting this verse - Ayat-ul-Koursi, and if only you knew what it is! Your Prophet had indeed received it from a treasure beneath the Throne, and no one had received it before him. I never spent a night without reciting it thrice; I recite it in the two rak'ahs (Sunnah) after I'shaa, in Witr and when I lie on my bed."
  3. Hazrat Shaabi (Rahimahullah) reports that Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (Radiyallahu anhu) said: "Whoever reads 10 verses of Surah Baqara (The Cow): 4 verses at the beginning (2: 1-4), Ayat-ul-Koursi (2: 255) and the following 2 verses (2: 256-257) and the last 3 verses (2: 284-286) in a house, no Satan will enter that house on that night until the morning."
