Connaissance de Deen
The knowledge of Deen is so valuable and meritorious that Allah Ta'ala recommended Nabi (Sallalahu Alaihi Wassalam) to make Dua for its increase. This is a sign and an indication that Allah Ta'ala is satisfied with the person whom He granted the understanding and knowledge of Deen.
A person is favoured in numerous ways. The knowledge of Deen is one of the favours that make a person worthy of envy. According to a Hadith, Nabi (Sallalahu Alaihi Wassalam) said:
"Whoever threads a path to seek knowledge, Allah Ta'ala facilitates a path for him to Jannah due to that action."
According to another Hadith, a person who goes out to seek knowledge, remains in the path of Allah Ta'ala until he returns.
According to a Hadith of Tirmizi, the Dunya and whatever it contains are cursed except for the Zikr of Allah Ta'ala, whatever Allah Ta'ala loves and an Aa'lim or a student of Deen.
All these Hadith suffice to demonstrate the value of the knowledge of Deen. Thus, those who possess this knowledge will also be extremely valued and appreciated. In order to demonstrate this, Nabi (Sallalahu Alaihi Wassalam) said that the worth of an Aa'lim in comparison to someone who remains engaged in Ibaadah is like my worth in comparison to the lowest among you.
