Priority in life

Wajib means something which is obligatory. Similarly, Farz also signifies an obligatory practice. However, technically, there is a difference between the two. A Farz practice is based on a categorical proof. Therefore, its degree of obligation also is stronger. However, the proof of a Wajib practice is not so categorical. There is a little reservation and deficiency in its degree of obligation. That is why it is lesser than Farz.

Blind and deaf

A small group of Ulama who are sincere suffices to do the work of Deen. However, in the absence of sincerity, they will not be more than a residue that serves no purpose. An 'Aalim does not become a good or a great and 'Aalim when he speaks a lot. However, when he says what should be said, he serves the community effectively. Otherwise, one may see big programs that are being organised, are refuted. They can refute what does not exist.

The path of Allah

The path of Allah is the path of Hidaayah. The other paths besides the path of Allah are the ways of perdition and misguidance.

Do not keep grudge

You are right when you say that there are no true Ulama in Mauritius. For a little while, it made me ponder. After a considerable time of reflection, I have come to the conclusion that you are absolutely right as if the antibiotic of the Ulama was effective, there would not be viruses of the anti-Ulama which would be devastating Mauritius on all sides.

ULAMA IN THE SOCIETY

The Ulama in the society are like steel rods in a building. When we look at a building, we tend to appreciate the plastering and painting but we do not realise that the creaming, painting and the concrete are due to the iron which is inside.

Contact with the Ulama

To keep in contact with the Ulama permanently is like a leaf on a tree. As long as the leaf is on the tree, it is green, fresh and beautiful. This guarantees its existence. When it breaks ties with the tree, it falls off, becomes yellow or withers and is to be thrown in the dustbin. As for the tree, it blossoms and becomes more beautiful than before. Similarly, when a person breaks ties with an ‘Aalim and turns his back on him, he exposes himself to all types of nuisances and spiritual difficulties.

Respect for the Ulama

Allamah At-Taaj As-Subki (Rahmatullahi 'alayh) said:

"Oh the one who is seeking the path of truth! You should respect the Aimmah and should not worry about what one has said against the other. Unless you see that there is a clear proof regarding what he has said. And moreover, as far as possible, try to understand it in a good way. If this is not possible, you should put it aside."
