Knowledge

Valid knowledge

A valid knowledge is a knowledge that is acquired from the prophets (Alaihimus Salaam) or their heirs. (Fath-oul-Baari)

[English version of "Connaissance valable" – Al Jamiat – Vol.1 No.4]

KNOWING OR NOT KNOWING

I knew that you do not know much.

But I did not know that you do not know so much.

When you do not know, you should say that you do not know.

It is very bad to claim to know,

that which you know that you do not know.

ILM

Ilm signifies knowledge. Nonetheless, the knowledge or Ilm that the Qur’an-e-Kareem and the Hadith of our Nabi (Sallallaahu A'laihi Wasallam) has encouraged us to acquire, is the Ilm (knowledge) of Deen.

Deen is mainly based on two sources: The Qur’an-e-Kareem and the Hadith. Therefore, according to the Shari'ah, Ilm is the knowledge of the Qur’an-e-Kareem and the Hadith.

Seek knowledge even if you have to go as far as China

Question: According to certain information, the following Hadith was considered as a fabricated Hadith. Is that true? “Seek knowledge even if you have to go as far as China”.

Answer: "Seek knowledge even if you have to go as far as China because seeking knowledge is obligatory on every Muslim".

Does not know = Does not exist???

When you do not know something and you are hearing it for the first time, it does not mean that it does not exist. This is a principle that we all should know. Insha Allah this will help us to refrain from many errors as when we do not know something, we should ask those who know. And not knowing is not a proof against those who know. On the contrary, we should be grateful to those who made us aware of things which we did not know all this time.

RESPECT

Day by day, the word respect is becoming a word merely taking place in the dictionary. At times, people may also be speaking about it. However, in practice, it is something that has become almost inexistent. It is a virus that has contaminated the society to such an extent that those who claim to have knowledge also have failed to understand the true meaning of respect. Not only do they lack respect for the Ulama, but they also lack respect for the former great Ulama.

Beauty spot

A beauty spot may seem to be an ugly spot for some person. It depends on the look. The one who looks at his friend with lots of affection, intimacy and appreciation, can regard/consider the full moon inferior to its beauty. But this very same person may be the ugliest person for another.
