Beauty spot

A beauty spot may seem to be an ugly spot for some person. It depends on the look. The one who looks at his friend with lots of affection, intimacy and appreciation, can regard/consider the full moon inferior to its beauty. But this very same person may be the ugliest person for another.

The friendship with one makes him see his friend or his beloved more beautiful than the night of the 14th night and the bitterness and enmity with another, makes him see the person as the ugliest. But one person can not be both pretty and ugly. She must be pretty or ugly.

To cite an example, for a mother, her daughter is the best girl that exists. But the same girl may be considered the worst girl in her mother-in-law's eyes. One is motivated by the friendship and the affection she has for her daughter and the other judged her differently due to not having the same feeling for her.

It shows us that, in general, people tend to be influenced by their feelings, their state of mind and the conditions they are in when they make a judgment. So, the judgment of a person reflects rather, his feeling or state of mind instead of reflecting the truth. That's why Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wassalam) prohibited from rendering a judgment in anger because a judgment in such a state will be a judgment under the influence of emotion that has the possibility of being wrong.

That is why Allah Ta’ala did not give the human the choice to decide what is good and what is bad because people are normally carried away by their feelings from time to time which prevents them from taking correct decisions. This choice is in the hands of Allah Ta’ala because Allah Ta’ala is not carried away by any feeling. He is beyond everything. He is not carried away by sorrow or happiness.

He is pleased with the good deeds of people and he is displeased with their bad deeds without being carried away by happiness or anger. Allah Ta’ala is beyond everything. He is "As-Samad" who does not need anyone and who does not depend on anything. He is independent. Whatever He qualifies as good is good and whatever He qualifies as bad is bad although we do not understand it and although it seems illogical. For example, the polygamy will always be good and laudable despite all sorts of criticisms and objections because it is authorised by Allah Ta’ala - the Supreme Master. On the other hand, Ribaa (the interest) will always be a grave sin although it is approved and encouraged by everyone, because Allah Ta’ala has forbidden it and declared it Haraam. It is Allah who knows what is good and what is bad.

"And they said, 'Allah has appointed a son,' Glory be to him, but to him is that which is in the heavens and the earth, and it is to him that all obey." (S 2: V 116)
