- APPLICATION FOR HALAL CERTIFICATE
Is it permissible to consume intestine?
According to a Hadith of Maraasil Abu Dawud, Tabrani, Musannaf Abdur Razzaaq and Sunan Al-Baihaqui, Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) disapproved of the consumption of 7 parts of a goat. According to the 'Ulama, this regulation is not restricted to goat only. This applies to all animals that are Halaal to consume. Thus, according to this Hadith, only these seven parts which Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) disapproved of, are Haraam. And intestine is not mentioned among those seven parts that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) disapproved of. Thus, it is Halaal. If we include intestine in it, it will become eight. It will not remain seven as Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) mentioned. In this case, it will be an addition to what Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) specified and that is not correct.
Thus, intestine is Halaal because Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) did not mention it among those seven things that he disapproved of. Therefore, a person is allowed not to consume it if he does not like it but he does not have the right to qualify it as Makruh or Haraam.
