A small analysis

Fill a glass with water. Then, dip your finger, take it out and see. How much water remains on your finger? Is it not true that it is very little and it does not represent anything in front of the little amount of water which is in that glass? If you have grasped this point, then compare the moisture on your finger with the amount of water in your basin or tank. All the more, it does not represent anything. It is not necessary to compare it with the water of the ocean to say that the moisture on the finger does not represent anything. Even big rivers and lakes represent almost nothing in front of the ocean.

Our Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) gave us a similar example to show that this Dunya is worthless in front of Aakhirah. This Dunya is worthless in front of Aakhirah like the moisture on the finger is worthless in front of the ocean. The intelligent ones are those who do not forsake the ocean and run behind a small drop of water. The intelligent ones are those who do not neglect their Aakhirah for the Dunya.

Dunya is temporary and Aakhirah is permanent. It is not wise to give up something which will remain forever for something temporary. People with intelligence do not commit such a mistake. According to a Hadith, Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said that the intelligent one is the one who controls his Nafs and works for (life) after death.
