Number of Talaaq that can still be issued after giving 2 Talaaq in the past

Question:

A person gave his wife one Talaaq. Thereafter, they reconciled within ten days. After a few years, the husband gave his wife a second Talaaq. In this case, how many Talaaq can this person still issue?

Reply:

He can only issue one more Talaaq. He must be careful. If this time, he gives her another Talaaq, his wife will be completely out of his Nikah. He will neither be able to reconcile nor will he be able to perform Nikah again with her.

It is good to know that when a husband gives his wife one or two Talaaq, this Talaaq is valid and this is deducted from his quota of 3 Talaaq even if the husband has reconciled with his wife.

There are many people who think that this Talaaq is null after reconciliation. That is, they believe that after this Talaaq, the husband still has the ability to issue 3 Talaaq. But this is not true. Through reconciliation, separation is impeded, but not cancelled. It is like a bullet which has been shot. It can never return.
