MKJJ
Maal (wealth), Kamaal (mastery), Jamaal (beauty) and Jalaal (greatness) are things that a person seeks in the Dunya. He exhausts his life in pursuit of these very things. However, he in fact cannot depend on any of these things. This is what is called Dunya and this Dunya is temporary. Thus, everything that it contains is also temporary. There is nothing that will remain for a person eternally.
Support or help that a person may be receiving from any source is temporary. It is a fact that everyone has his own problems. Nobody has time to solve the problems of others on a permanent basis. And if a person has time, he also has impediments.
There is no one in this Dunya who can love one more than one's parents. But, they also have a limit which they cannot cross. There are certain things that they cannot do for one despite having the will to do it. Unfortunately, it is very rare to find willpower and capacity simultaneously. Thus, parents cannot always do everything. Thus, on whom should we place our hope to support us in everything?
…Wealth
People are proud of their wealth and property. Yet one has always seen that they leave this Dunya with merely a few metres of white material. Their car, family or relatives accompanied them only till their Qabr. And sometimes they cannot do this also. Wealth is something that does not always remain with a person. It comes and goes. Most of the time, we see that instead of money being of benefit to us, we are becoming its slave. And finally if it does not leave one, one will have to leave it.
We depend too much on our wealth, but very often there are problems that cannot be solved through our wealth. A person who has an incurable disease feels incapable because despite having wealth it cannot give him good health.
Wealth can buy the means of comfort but it neither has the ability to grant comfort nor give moral tranquillity.
We may lure someone who may pretend to love us due to our wealth but we will not be able to win over his heart. Love is not something that can be bought or sold. The heart is something that can fall in love with someone who perhaps lives in a straw house although it may pretend to love someone who lives in the castle. Thus, wealth cannot provide one everything. Allah Ta'ala says:
"...If you would have spent all that which is on earth, you would not have been able to put love for each other in their hearts but it is Allah who has united them ..." (S 8: V 63)
… Youth
Today we are in the prime of youth with all our charms and energy. We may be able to do a high jump of seven metres but did we ever think that one day it may happen that we may have difficulty to merely climb a step? One can be so robust that everyone fears one. Did we realise how many others of our like have disappeared in the earth without leaving any trace. Are we an exception?
Namrud has gone. Pharaoh has gone. Abu Jahl has gone. Abu Lahab has gone. How many examples do we need to be reassured that one day we will also have to go? And maybe before we go, we may get the opportunity to see that all of that which we possessed is now gone. One's family, friends, doctors, medicines and wealth, will all be incapable. They will just see us going. No one will be able to stop us from going.
We will not always remain as we are today in all our charm. The hair will turn white. The skin will peel off and wrinkled. We will become toothless. No makeup also will be effective. And there will not even be the desire to do all that. All that we have is temporary. Thus, congratulations to those who sacrificed their youth, their energy and their time for the Ibaadah of their Rabb.
Finally, we will see that nothing belongs to us and nothing will benefit us. Everything will turn the back on us. It is solely Allah Ta'ala alone who can always support us everywhere. It is He alone whom one can trust. It is on Him alone that we can rely on wherever we are. It is good to always ponder over what Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) said:
"...Think of Him (Allah), you will see Him in front of you..." (Tirmizi)
