The wolf
We want everyone to know us. We want everyone to flatter us. We love prestige/honour/esteem. We have the desire to be popular. This is what is called Hubb-ul-Jaah or grandiosity. According to the diagnosis of those who are in the field, it means that there is a wolf in our person. A very fierce wolf that can ravage us by destroying our Deen. The most precious thing for a person is his Deen. It is a wolf that will destroy this precious thing. What will remain of a person if his Deen is destroyed? It destroys all the actions that a person has done with a lot of effort merely due to a small negligence. All actions that he has performed become void. That is not all. He will be dragged by the face and thrown into hell! It is a wolf that is more ferocious and more dangerous than a hungry wolf which is released among a herd of animals. What would be the extent of the harm!!! This one causes more harm to the Deen of a person.
Grandiosity destroys the Deen of a person to a greater extent than when a hungry wolf devastates a herd of animals. It is like you waited in a very long queue before finally arriving at the counter. While presenting the papers, you do not have an essential document and you do not have the time to present it later because it is the deadline and the counter is closing. It will be really sad and regretful. It is a problem that cannot be solved. Thus, it is defeat.
Likewise, a person will be presented on the day of Qiyaamah with Aa'maal that can be recorded in voluminous files but which lacks a paper or document that is very essential and indispensable for the acceptance of his records. This document is Ikhlaas or sincerity. This person did not do these good deeds for the pleasure of Allah. His motive was to acquire greatness and popularity. To his great disappointment, he will see all his Aa'maal rejected and he will be thrown into hell.
