The recommended nights to spend in 'Ibaadah

The recommended nights to spend in Ibaadah are the last 10 nights of Ramadan, the night of Eid, the night of Baqr Eid, the 10 nights of Zul-Hijjah and the 15th night of Shabaan. But this must be spent at home. It is not right to do it in Jamaat in the Masjid. The Fuqaha have declared as Makruh (that is, an undesirable and a detestable practice) the practice of spending those nights in Jamaat in the Masjid. People perform Ibaadah to gain proximity to Allah Ta'ala. This is achieved when one practices it according to the Mubaarak Sunnah of our Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam). To spend these nights in Jamaat in the Masjid is against the Sunnah of Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam). A person renders himself detestable and undesirable in the eyes of Allah Ta'aala by going against the Sunnah of Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam). Similarly, performing Tahajjud Salaah, Awwaabeen Salah, or Salaat-ut-Tasbeeh in Jamaat is against the Sunnah of Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam). Instead of gaining proximity, one distances oneself from Allah Ta'ala.
