The Sunnah Mu'akkadah
Sunnah Mu'akkadah is a practice which is not Farz (obligatory) but Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) has always practiced it. He did not leave it unless he had a constraint.
Therefore, it should not be taken lightly. Many people think that one can omit it because it is Sunnah. But it is a mistake and a major error because it is a sin to make it a habit to neglect the Sunnah Mu'akkadah. It is true that its gravity is relatively less than the sin that there is in neglecting a Farz or in committing a Haraam. However, it is sinful to make it a habit to neglect the Sunnah Mu'akkadah. One must be very careful and cautious and take a lot of precaution because it is a sin to neglect the Sunnah due to laziness or lack of will. However, if ever it was neglected by contempt or underestimation, then it may even lead a person to Kufr.
