A free nation and an independent country

A country becomes a country by the people who live in that country. A developed country is a country whose citizens are developed. A country does not necessarily become rich by its natural resources. We find many countries that are very rich in natural resources but are extremely underdeveloped. It all depends on the people who live in that country.

If we follow this reasoning, this leads us to say that a free and independent country is a country whose citizens are free and independent. Otherwise, with a gambling mentality, full of selfishness and maliciousness, a country can never be independent despite celebrating independence for decades or centuries.

A country that promotes horse racing, casinos and clubs, is a country which is enslaving its nation. People are becoming slaves of their passions and desires. It is a nation that rejoices upon the corpse of its fellow man and who is enriched by making its people unemployed, lacking provision and a home thereby rendering them more and more miserable. In such a state, how will freedom and independence exist? It is hard to point to a state which is truly independent like this. This type of freedom and independence may exist individually but not at the level of the state. It is only achievable in a country which is under the banner of Islam, led by competent, just, integral and honest leaders! We will have to await for Imam Mehdi himself for that purpose.
