Lying

Lying means to say something which you know is not as you mentioned. You know that your friend did not do something. But you intentionally insist that he did it. This is called a lie and the one who commits this action is called a liar. In the Qur'an-e-Kareem, Allah Ta'ala says:

"The curse of Allah is on the liars".

According to a Hadith of Tirmizi, lying leads to sin and sin leads to Hell. When someone lies repeatedly, he is known as a great liar by Allah Ta'ala. Lying is not befitting of a person who has Imaan. It is a shameful and lowly act that renders a person unworthy. Thus, lying is not the way of a dignified person. Promoting and supporting a practice which is beyond the limits of the Shari'ah is also a lie. And this is even more serious because it can induce a whole population into error. Moreover, because that lie is a Buhtaan (false accusation) on Allah Ta'ala and His Rasul (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wassallam). These types of people makes one believe that which is not true. He wants to make one believe that it is the commands of Allah Ta'ala and the teaching of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wassallam) while he knows that it is not such. He does so only for material gain and at times, to avoid embarrassment.

Sometimes it happens that someone says something which is not true. But he does it by mistake or confusion. This person may be excused if he took all the required precautions before uttering the statement. If he does it by negligence, then he will be guilty by Allah Ta'ala due to his negligence. That is why we should take a lot of precautions before speaking regarding the Deen. We should not pretend to know what we do not know. There are many people who are committing this error. It is so common that sometimes even the Ulama also fall prey to it. They misinterpret the Qur'anic verses and the Hadith. And they induce the public into error. Therefore, to speak about Deen without knowledge is a very serious sin because in reality it is a big lie on Allah Ta'ala and His Rasul (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wassallam).

We should bear in mind well that whatever a person wants to accumulate and obtain by deceiving people does not represent anything in front of what Allah Ta'ala has reserved for those who are sincere and honest. Moreover, this very small quantity that was acquired will only last for a very short time. That is why we should speak the truth, practice on the truth, stick to the truth and propagate the truth if we really want to be accepted in the eyes of Allah Ta'ala. There will be all sorts of temptations that will tempt us not tell the truth. But we should know that we have a price to pay to tell the truth and there are many things to lose. But for the pleasure of Allah Ta'ala, we should accept to lose them. And this loss does not represent anything in front of what is awaiting us. It is not a loss in vain which will plunge one into regret. It is an exclusive loss which will crown one with success. It is a loss which a grain undergoes in order to grow a big tree laden with fruits.

فما متاع الحياة الدنيا في الآخرة إلا قليل

The pleasure of this worldly life is but little (insignificant) compared to Aakhirah.

« Jouissance dans dounia pas représente narien divant aakhirat apart ene kitchose bien minime. »
