The real blind

We know that a person is blind when he does not see. But the real blind person is the one whose heart is blind. We ask the protection of Allah Ta’ala against this kind of blindness because a person is completely ruined when he is such. 

Light and illumination are useful for a person who has eyesight. On the other hand, a person who does not have eyesight, will not be able to benefit even if one places the sun in front of him. Darkness and light are same for him. On the contrary, illumination helps people to know that a certain person is blind.

Similarly, when the heart of a person is blind, he fails to understand even if one places a mountain of proofs in front of him.

For example, the Ulama of all epochs and everyone else know that Hazrat ‘Umar (Radiyallahu Anhu) had ordered to perform 20 Rak'at of Taraweeh, but this proof seems useless to them because their hearts have become blind. They insist on 8 Rak'at of Taraweeh. They pretend to understand the Deen more than Hazrat ‘Umar (Radiyallahu Anhu) and the Sahabah-e-Kiraam (Radiyallahu Anhum). It is due to them being blind that gives them the impression that they know the Deen more and in a better way than the Sahabah-e-Kiraam (Radiyallahu Anhum).
