Love for Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam)
Love for Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) is something very essential for Imaan. Imaan does not exist without this love. On the contrary, a person must have this love more than everything to become a good Muslim.
The love of the Sahabah-e-Kiraam (Radiyallahu Anhum) for Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) is a unique and exemplary love. When they sat in front of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam), they would not move, out of respect. They sat so still that a bird could possibly sit on their head and only fly once they moved. They would rub the saliva and sputum of Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) on their bodies out of love for him. They used their backs as a shield to protect Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) in the battlefield. They risked their lives to save the life of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam).
Once, just before making him Shaheed, a Kaafir asked a Sahabi (Radiyallahu Anhu), would he not have liked that Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) was in his place. The Sahabi (Radiyallahu Anhu) replied:
"I prefer to sacrifice my life than a thorn pricking the foot of my Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam)."
Allah! Allah! This is called Muhabbat. This is called Ishq-e-Rasul (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam).
Be careful / Beware!
Why must we feel shy to say that the Sahabah-e-Kiraam (Radiyallahu Anhum) were rubbing the sputum and the Mubarak saliva of Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) on their bodies? Do people not do more than this? Do people not swallow the saliva or the sputum of their partners? But they do not take that into consideration because they do it in such a moment that they do not know where they are. The westerners do more than that even. Thus, we must not suffer an inferiority complex in narrating the realities of our Deen. The truth will remain the truth even if it does not please those who do not like the truth.
