Knowledge of Deen

"The one who seeks the knowledge (of Deen) in order to parade with / show off the Ulama or to argue with the fools or to attract the attention of people towards him, Allah Ta’ala will put him into the fire (hell)." (Tirmizi)

Explanation:

The purpose of learning Deen is to practice it and convey it to those who do not know. Learning Deen for such a purpose is a great Ibaadah and according to the Hadith, Allah Ta’ala has reserved a huge reward for this way of learning Deen. As for those who have other intention for learning Deen, they are not sincere. According to a Hadith found in Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah and Musnad Ahmad, such people will be deprived of the scent of Jannah.
