Fasting on the day of Eid

An action becomes an Ibaadah when it is performed in accordance to the obedience of Allah Ta’ala and His Rasul (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam). Salah is a great Ibaadah but it will no longer remain an Ibaadah if it is performed while disobeying Allah Ta’ala and His Rasul (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam). All Ibaadat should be understood in the same way.

Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) prohibited us from fasting on the day of Eid. Therefore, it is not permissible to fast on the day of Eid. If a person fasts on that day, he will be committing a sin.
